Purr-Klempt

When a company willingly sells you 3/4 of a yard of fabric
without a cut fee or a snotty refusal...it's expensive.
Which is exactly why it took me so long to order this silk velvet.

Nothing else would do for these stools.
Not that I didn't look. I did. A lot.

When I misplaced the original sample when the remodel began...

...the showroom sent me this picture to confirm the fabric.

And confirm I did...with tears in my eyes and divorce court in sight.
If you have felt the infamous Clarence House Jaguar Velours Soie,
though, handmade in Italy, then you are just as purr-klempt as I am.

Spotted: Modern Minimalism

Life is chaotic lately, so I'm loving modern minimalism -- a little rough around the edges, in soft-focus shades of cream and slate, cherishing the simplicity and craftsmanship of the past. The perfect marriage of zen and comfort...

Inspiration 11.29

Obsessed doesn't even capture how I feel about this incredible three-story Parisian home (and former haberdashery) featured in The New York Times. That staircase! The garden! It's love.

By the way, this was first discovered on my latest blog crush My Paradissi authored by Eleni, a freelance architect living in Crete -- aren't you just so jealous of her already? And to top it off, she has fabulous taste, by which, of course I mean my taste, but hopefully it's yours too if you read this blog. Simple, European, comfortable glam.

Happy reading, but please promise to come back! ;)

Salon Furniture Trends

By Katie Clayton

Investing in salon furniture is a great way to improve the luxury of your salon and create customer loyalty. In the present climate of austerity, going to the hairdressers or a beauty salon is becoming much less of a regular occurrence and much more of an occasional luxury. Consumers are increasingly looking for not only the best treatments, but also a luxurious environment that offers a welcome break from their daily routines.

Consistency in salon furniture styles and colours is essential to make your salon flow. Salon design trends for this Autumn/Winter are all about creating a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Traditional earthy colours such as beiges and greens and wood effects are perfect as they will adapt to changing trends and you will not have to be constantly updating your decor.

Many furniture choices are driven by trends in the fashion industry, so it may look dated in a short time or fail to suit a change in your colour scheme or decoration.

When buying new equipment such as salon chairs you should opt for longevity and function rather than fashion. Go for a colour like black that will adapt to the changing decor of your salon and sustain wear and tear. Additionally, you need to get the balance between design and comfort just right, as customers will spend the majority of their time sitting down while they receive their treatments.

The salon industry is once again on the up, with sales of salon furniture rising significantly in the past few months, as salon owners look positively to the future. You too can make this wise investment without damaging your bank balance through one of the internet's online retailers. Some of these businesses offer complete furniture packages so you can completely kit out your salon for a fraction of what it would cost you to buy it individually.
