By Barry Smith

The most popular improvement home owners make on their home is renovating their bathrooms. The reason why this is popular is due to the fact that bathrooms have become more than just a space for hygiene. Many people relax in the bathroom and view it as a personal retreat.

There are many different styles and designs to choose from when renovating a bathroom. The standard rules in bathroom designs have changed. The first thing to consider before renovating a bathroom is the space you have and how you plan on using it.

Some of the requirements that should be considered when building your bathroom include function and openness. You want to make sure everything is functional and in the ideal space. Also consider materials that can easily be cleaned and are low-maintenance.

Renovating a bathroom can get quite expensive, but it depends on how much you choose to spend. A new vanity top or a simple light fixture can cost just a couple hundred dollars. However, a complete renovation can cost $10,000+.

All the amazing materials and products available can really make your bathroom more than just a shower and a sink. In fact, I'm going to share some ideas to include in your bathroom outside of the major fixtures.

If you have extra space in your bathroom, adding a wicker chair or a gorgeous display case can also add a nice touch. If you're trying to create a feeling of a powder room, these options will add some character.

A great alternative to a white or gray bathroom is adding some fun colors. Mix and match some colors to create a bit of a pop and a more vibrant bathroom. If you want to keep the paint job simple, mix it up with some colored picture frames and some bright towels. You can even just add some fresh flowers or plants as they'll add color and a nice feel. .

As you spend money on your bathroom renovation, you're investing in your home. Hopefully it lasts for a long time and increases the value of your home.
