Saying that DC has a cupcake problem is a bit of an understatement. In recent years, several new shops have opened their doors, joining cupcake veterans Cakelove and Baked & Wired. Off the top of my head, there's the eponymous Georgetown Cupcake, Hello Cupcake and Red Velvet Cupcakery. So naturally I was wary of the newest kid on the block, Sprinkles, in Georgetown.Nonetheless, fellow blogger Nikki and I decided to drop in while doing some shopping last weekend. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the light-filled and efficient atmosphere, the wide selection of cupcakes -- everything from vanilla to chai, and the sweet, but probably sugar-overloaded staff.
I tried coconut, Nikki went with a chocolate peanut-butter concoction. Both were super tasty. While Baked & Wired will always have my vote for best...well, everything. Sprinkles is absolutely worth a visit.
