Cushions for Patio Furniture

By Daniel Akinson

It can be difficult to find the right cushions for your patio furniture. Patio chairs are so multi-functional. Their uses include dining, relaxing, working, feeding the baby, along with many additional uses.

If you are looking to maintain the proper posture, you need to be sure the seat is 16 inches above the ground and the back should make nearly a right angle to the bottom. Look for a chair that will take the weight onto your lower back in lieu of your rear; this will help your posture. Make seat backs have an angle to them, so the weight transfer happens more organically, which you should look for.

A chaise lounge chair is different, these chairs are mainly for reclining and provide an extended back to give you more support while stretching out your legs.

Unique care must be taken in order to clean the patio furniture cushions to ensure their longevity. Make sure you do the same thing no matter what the season; even if you are in winter or spring, the exact same process must be used. For those cushions that can be unzipped and removed, you can place them in the washer with a gentle detergent on the delicate cycle. Try not to allow any moisture to get into the foam insert as this will cause mildew. At the same time, dry it totally in the event that it does get wet.

Sun exposure causes fading, to lessen the effects be sure to flip the cushions on a regular basis. Any stains or spills should be cleaned as soon as possible. There are several cleaning products currently being sold that are specially designed to remove mildew and stains.

When in storage, the cushions should be in an airtight container. You should also include several cedar balls to ensure that your cushions will smell clean and to eliminate the possibility of bugs. Cedar balls can be found at any home improvement store.
